No journey to Katra is complete without a stop at the Bhairavnath Mandir. The Bhairavnath cave temple is dedicated to Baba Bhairavnath and was built on the spot where he is said to have died. The Bhairavnath temple is a steep 3 km walk from Bhawan. Although the climb can be difficult, the breathtaking view of the verdant highlands is a visual delight. There is an ancient Gurudwara on the Shiv Khori path, near the Chenab River. A 30-minute drive connects the town of Katra with Reasi. Mata Vaishno Devi was worshipped by Baba Banda Bahadur. When he lived in this region, he frequently visited the temple. Thereupon, the Goddess blessed him, as she was moved by his devotion. According to legend, the Gurudwara is 300 years old. Baba Banda Bahadur’s ashes and an arrow given to him by Guru Gobind Singh are kept here. Inside the Gurudwara is a museum. It houses several artefacts with historical significance, including swords donated by Guru Gobind Singh, wall paintings, and the Sikh flag made of Deodar wood.

Deva Mai is a fantastic place to discover natural beauty. The temple can be reached via a hike through lush forests and is located 4 kilometres from the major city of Katra. The sights on the way to the temple are worth seeing, and nowhere else will you find such a wonderful place to find peace away from the hustle and bustle of the city. According to legend, the goddess meditated at the site of the temple at the beginning of Kaliyuga, when she was in the final stage of her human incarnation.
